Russell Biotech’s first product entry, Goat-anti-mouse-FMP (GAM-FMP) will permit rapid isolation/enrichment of cells of interest in high yield using negative selection. The use of negative selection yields cells that are free of bound magnetic particles and, thus, immediately available and untouched for research studies. GAM-FMP will allow the researcher to use antibodies of choice to remove the desired cell populations.

Product Product Number Price
GAM-FMP, 1ml C00001 Inquire
GAM-FMP, 2ml C00002 Inquire

Custom Particles: Russell Biotech will provide custom particles upon request. Also, please inquire about our new avidin and anti-FITC particles.

Future product releases will include:

bullet CD15-FMP for the rapid removal of CD15 positive cells
bullet

CD41-FMP for the rapid removal of platelets, from undiluted whole blood, prior to Ficoll isolation of mononuclear cells: The pre-step yields very clean mononuclear preparations devoid of “sticky” platelets.

bullet T Cell Negative Isolation Kit that will yield highly enriched T cells
bullet Monocyte Negative Isolation Kit that will yield highly enriched monocytes  .

Equipment required for optimal performance of Quick-Sep FMP:

bullet Mixer:  Proper mixing is essential to ensure contact between the Ferromagnetic Particles and the targeted cells.

For reaction volumes </= to 0.5ml mixing can be accomplished by vortexing at a low speed using a Vortex Genie 2 that has variable speed control. A Vortex Genie 2 with a timer is desirable but a timer is not essential.

For volumes >/= 0.5ml up to 50ml mixing can be accomplished by end-over-end mixing using an ATR Rotamix mixer (www.atrbiotech.com/benchtop/rotamix.htm)  with variable speed. Recommended mixing speed is 15 rpm.

bullet  Magnetic Separation: Ideal magnets that can be used with Quick-Sep Ferromagnetic Particles can be obtained from Dexter Magnetic Technologies (www.lifesep.com under products). Different magnets are available for sample volumes from </= 0.5ml to 50ml.

Magnets from suppliers of superparamagnetic particles will also work with Quick-Sep Ferromagnetic Particles.

bullet Demagnetizer:  One of the unique positive attributes of Russell Biotech’s particles is that the particles are ferromagnetic not superparamagnetic. As a result the particles will maintain some magnetism when the magnetic field is removed. Simple vortexing is able to overcome this magnetic effect and captured cells are easily dispersed. However, especially when the targeted cells are rare and/or the antigen density is relatively low, the most efficient capture occurs with well dispersed particles. To ensure well dispersed particles, it is recommended that the particles be demagnetized (30 second procedure) immediately prior to addition to the sample using a demagnetizer/degausser from Data-Link Associates
(www.datalinksales.com ); product number PF-211.
