James D. Skinner
- President and CEO
Jim is a seasoned and successful CEO and entrepreneur having managed three
publicly traded life sciences companies, several private companies and been
the founder of a number of start-up firms. As CEO, Jim has raised more than
$100 million. He currently is a member of the Board of Associates of the
Whitehead Institute, the world’s leading biotechnology research
organization, and has been a founder and/or board member of several
biotechnology organizations including the Biotechnology Industry
Organization, Washington, DC.
Thomas
Russell. Ph.D.
- Vice President Research and Development & CSO
Tom is the Founder of and an investor in RBI. He has over 25 years
experience in the field of cell selection using microparticle technology. Dr
Russell was President and Founder of TRC Biotech, LLC which is now a wholly
owned subsidiary of RBI. Prior to founding TRC Biotech, he was Vice
President of Reagent Development at Immunicon Corporation and spent the
previous 14 years at Coulter Corporation, including serving as Director of
Research and Technology. While at Coulter he was a co-inventor of a cell
selection procedure that was licensed to Eligix, Inc. for therapeutic
applications and was a co-inventor of Coulter’s Q-Prep technology that
revolutionized sample processing for Flow Cytometry. The product became the
industry standard. Dr. Russell is an inventor on 17 U.S. patents and an
author on over 40 publications. |

Nancye Files -
Vice President of Marketing
Nancye has had extensive industry experience in
the research and diagnostic markets with leading edge technologies for cell
identification and analysis in immunology, oncology, and genetics. She has
held various marketing positions in both start up companies (Oncor, IMI and
Immunicon) and major diagnostic companies (Coulter and Becton Dickinson
Immunocytometry Systems), with both national and international
responsibilities.
Advisors & Consultants
Michael Musick, Ph. D.
is responsible for the manufacture and
characterization of the company’s ferromagnetic particles and is a
co-inventor of the company’s ferromagnetic selection technology. Currently
employed in the field of micro and nano particles, Dr. Musick has
synthesized numerous particles and surface treatments. His efforts in
analytical research are diverse ranging from the fields of micro and nano
structural analysis, surface characterization, material property
measurement, and chemical coatings to clinical diagnostics and genetic
screening. He received his B.S. in chemistry from the University of
Pittsburgh in 1994 and a Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University in
1999 studying nanostructure assemblies and new immunological detection
strategies. He is the co-author of 14 scientific publications and a
co-inventor on seven patents.
Judith
H. Smith, Ph.D.
is an independent consultant with
expertise in product marketing and web design. Dr. Smith was previously
employed by Beckman Coulter, Inc. where she held several positions including
scientific liaison for products designed to detect enzyme activity using
flow cytometric evaluation, manager of the technical support group for
coagulation products and scientist in R&D for flow cytometry products. She
also has eight years experience in clinical labs performing diagnostic
testing in the field of immunology, specializing in characterization of
leukemias/lymphomas, DNA analysis of solid tumors, and detection of
microbiological pathogens using PCR. Dr. Smith received her Ph.D. in
Immunology and Medical Microbiology from the University of South Florida
College of Medicine. |
